Not that my other posts have been shit, but you get the idea. It's been an extremely busy 4 months at that. Lets see, the last time I posted anything was way back when in June. Its not the beginning of November. Where the fuck did the time go??? I guess its just one of the unfortunate downsides of becoming old. Oh well. Well since I have you all here lets recap as to what the hell I've been doing with the last 4 months of my life...*picture wavy sides, like in a flashback sequence, and that twangy harp music*

So lets see, when I last posted in June I was in the beginning of my summer session at school. I finished that up surprisingly well for the amount of shit I had to do in a very short period of time. The only class that really suffered was my child psych class, cause it was the longest (6 weeks) so I would spend all my time in that class studying for my other, shorter classes, assuming I would have plenty of time for the psych class, cause it was 6 weeks. But hey, I pulled a C, and they always say C's earn degrees so I'm good to go. One other thing that did suffer because of all this "education" nonsense was my dedication to the gym. I had been going at least once a week, but most of the time it was around 3 times. Once I got enthralled in all the summer school classes (3, thats 15 units, way to many!) I never had any time on top of my job at the library. So suffice it to say that I've been to the gym once in the last 4 months. But I've been trying to stay active by playing volleyball and softball on occasion. My weight has suffered a bit for it, I'm no longer the svelt 163 I was chillin at, but then again I'm nowhere near the robust 205 I started the year at. I've been hovering around 175ish for the last month or 2, and thats not that bad.

So yeah, I finished summer school and was all revved up for my final quarter as an undergrad, when my bogus school canceled one of my classes for low enrollment, which is total nonsense cause they canceled it like a month before the quarter even started, so how do they know if anyone was gonna sign up or not? So I get on my high horse and ready to be all pissy when I go up to the school to complain, and they seemed to sense it cause my usual advisor at the time, Andy, asked if I was upset. I don't know if she sensed it or if she just knew the class was canceled, ergo upset comm majors. Anyway, she pawns me off on this new chick Kristal, and she goes to work on righting my wrongs and getting me into an independent study class to get this one out of the way. Way to go new chick.

Over the summer I also had Cody's 6th birthday party, which was much more cheaper and enjoyable than his 5th. My family and Cody's other grandparents brought his cousin to Zuma beach and we played in the water all day. $35 for sandwich fixins is a helluva lot better than $300+ for chuck e cheese. Damn expensive kids... But anyways, I also went to the warped tour in San Diego, which was a pretty good time. I was supposed to go with this chick Michelle from work but she was lame and gave me some lame excuse and bailed, so I ended up going with another friend that I hadn't seen in a long time, so we got to catch up and it ended up bein a pretty good time.

Once the summer was over I quit the library and started substitute teaching. Its awesome, but only if I'm teaching 4th grade and below. I've found that 5th grade is when they start to turn on you. The district I teach in has schools with K-8th grade. I thought the bigger kids would be better cause they're older and smarter, but that just makes them more assholes and disrespectful. Something has apparentely happened in the youth culture between now and when I was in school. My first class I taught was a 7th grade class. I got hit with a paper airplane, had to constantly yell over the class to be heard, and ended the day being told to shut my mouth you fuckin whitey. All in all a pretty exciting day. Its gotten much better since then however, as I've tried to stick with the younger grades. So the moral of the story is, screw kids in middle school.

So also since my last post has been like a bajillion good movies. Transformers was awesome. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, SuperBad and Good Luck Chuck were all hilarious. Finally my new shows have started again. My busy Monday night got even busier now that Chuck and Journeyman are on the air. They've been added to Heroes, How I Met Your Mother and 2 1/2 Men. I love the fall for this and only this; new episodes of my shows. Another good one is Life. As much as I don't like cop shows, I do like this one. Apparently its my exception to the rule.

So yeah, back to school. I'm 2 weeks from the end of the quarter. I'm really looking forward to it, cause 7+ years in I'll finally be graduating, assuming I pass my senior seminar class. This retarded ass teacher of mine has equated a 20 page paper to be worth the same grade wise as a couple piddly little 6 question quizzes. Fair? I think not. Suffice it to say, I need to pull off a near perfect final paper to get a C in the class. And we all remember what I said earlier about C's, so yeah. My BSing skills are gonna be put to the test, but they've never let me down before, I don't think they'll start now. I'm currently 8 pages into my 20 page masterpiece. Its not fun.

Back to another aspect of school, the aforementioned new chick in the advising office turned out to be a pretty helpful young lady, not to mention cute. So she got me into an independent study class so that assuming I pass my senior sem class, I'll graduate on time. So to thank her for all her diligence I asked her out to dinner. Turns out we have quite a bit in common and we hit it off pretty well. She went with me to my Arizona football trip, which my Panthers won 25-10 in a damn good game, and we've been dating for a little over a month now. Its goin pretty good, I'm excited about it. So hoorah for that.

Well I guess that just about catches you up with the exciting life of Chris. Perhaps next post will be back in the video format, and not 4 months down the line. But I'm not making any promises, so yeah..... Until next time.......

Fantastic Four: Decline of the Silver Surfer Fans

Click to Play

Don't make fun of me cause my head looks fat. I promise...

I'm not a liar

I've just been busy lately. Really busy. Finals are upon me, 5 down, 1 to go. So after tomorrow night I'll be done with this quarter and get a break for a couple of weeks. From school at least. Still got work, but thats not really much. I've been tryin to get set up to do some video blogs, cause since i've been working with video so much these last 6 months i've gotten really interested in it. i saw some fathers day special at best buy that comes with a miniDV camcorder, a bad ass laptop and some editing software for $900. Even though I already have a laptop, the one in the package is better plus i get a camcorder and some editing software so i can actually do some video stuff. If only I had $900. Donations anyone? I may just sell this one, I can probably get $500 for it or so, which will cut down the cost of the new stuff.

I was trying to save this for a video post, but my USB port is messed up so i can't transfer any video files onto my computer. Yet another reason for a new laptop. But anyway, I got a haircut a couple of weeks ago. Now when I get my haircut, I don't like to chat. I just want to sit there, and you cut my hair. Thats the system I'm comfortable with. I usually go to the Cost Cutters by my house, and when I went on this particular day there was a new employee working. It was an abnormally large gay man. I have nothing against the gay man, in fact they usually do a fabulous job cutting my hair. This time was no different, the hair cut itself was fine. It was the overall experience that left me nervous. Usually when I get my haircut, the barber will ask me a question, I'll give a short, abrubt response letting them know that I don't like to talk, and the barber is fine with that. Not this guy. He just continues to babble, and the more he talks to me the more uncomfortable I get. The antisocial person that I am was writhing in my seat, hoping for this cursed haircut to come to an end. It was the most uncomfortable haircut ever.

On a more positive note, last night I movie hopped for the first time in a long time. I saw Mr. Brooks and Knocked Up. Both of these movies were fantastic. I guess the law of averages had Kevin Costner eventually making a good movie again, and coupled with William Hurt as his evil alter ego and Dane Cook, who gave a surprisingly real performance totally unlike anything I would expect to see him do, this film was outstanding. It was awesome to see the storyline develop and try to piece together the mysteries that encompassed the film. I don't want to give to much away, but since I heard that this actually got a lot of bad reviews, I'm campaigning for it now, so go see it. You won't be disappointed in the least. It's also got Demi Moore and Danielle Panabaker (Sky High!), who both did excellent jobs. Knocked Up was hilarious. It was not only incredibly funny, but it also had a good amount of heart to it, which is something I like to see in a movie. It's done by the same guys at 40 Year Old Virgin. Apparently Judd Apatow can write a great film. Also, if you want to see Ryan Seacrest go on a profanity filled tirade, then this is the film for you. On a side note, I really think thats how Seacrest is in real life, see the film. I know it's true. Its one of those films you'll go around quoting for the next 6 months, then another 6 months when it comes out on DVD. So yeah, good movies. I also saw Pirates the other day, another fantastic film. I heard mixed reviews from friends, anywhere from it was to long with drawn out action scenes to it was a really good movie. I went with the latter. It checked in at just under 3 hours, but with the exception of one scene in the final battle I liked it. Getting married in the middle of a battle was just to cheesy for me.

Ok, well thats it for now I guess. I gotta go get ready for a surprise party, so hope you kids enjoy the rest of the weekend and the start of your summers. Really, I'll write more now.

I told you I'd write more often

So see? 2 posts in a week. Go me. This one won't be as long as the last one though, for you complainers that don't like long posts. So yeah, I just thought I'd throw somethin up here cause I gotta go to sleep in the next few min, I get to bring my pal Sonny to the airport at ungodly hours of the morning. What are friends for? To take you to the airport at ungodly hours of the morning, thats what.

Ok, so as readers of this blog know I've been dieting since the start of the year. My resolution, if you will. Well seeing as how I've barely wrote anything in the last couple months theres been no updates. Well theres not to much to report since my last update, this morning I weighed in at 169, so I'm down 36 pounds since Jan 1. I've been hittin the gym a couple times a week, tryin to build some muscle on this semi-portly frame. Even though I'm not that portly anymore. But yeah, only 9 pounds to go before I hit the goal, and I figure I should be down there in another month or so. It took me a while to finally drop down under 170, so I'm assuming the more I lose, the longer it'll take to drop those last couple pounds. Woo hoo.

More exciting news, I got a pair of tickets to see my Carolina Panthers play the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona. 6 rows from the field, right next to the tunnel where the panthers are gonna be comin out of. These tickets are paid for, the hotel will be paid for. I'm lookin for someone to go with me. All you need to spring for is your food. So if you're a fan of football or a fan of spending a weekend with a pasty white danish kid in the middle of the desert, then tell me why you should go. A contest of sorts. But yeah regardless of who goes with me I'm pumped. I saw them play in 2004 up in San Francisco and it was awesome. In that game we were down 17-3 at halftime and I was all pissed off. Then we reeled off 32 straight points to win 35-17. It was awesome. I'm hopin for similar results this time (well, a win).

Other than that, not to much goin on. I signed up for the rest of my classes for fall quarter today, and got my application for my degree. I'm finally graduating, I'm really excited about that. I'm also taking the CBEST next month so, assuming I pass, I'll be substitute teaching come the start of the new year. Its fun to think about finally starting a "career" after spending so much time at meaningless dead end jobs and toiling away at college. A few months ago I was hitting my quarter life crisis and worrying that I hadn't done anything yet in my 25 years on the planet. Now I'll finally have something to show for it. Hoorah.

Ok, thats it for tonight. I gotta hit the hay, ready to wake up bright and early, even though it will still be dark at 4 am. until next time....

Why don't I write more often?

I'm not sure. However, an event transpired today that made me pissed off and inspired me to write something. Whether I write about this particular incident or not I haven't decided yet. I'll start this blog with the fact that I've been tagged by our pal Justin over at jeanspants.blogspot.com. So I guess I'm supposed to write 7 bad habits and 7 of my favorite songs. So I'll start with the bad habits.

1. I never call people back. I'm a much bigger fan of text messaging than talking to someone on the phone. Some people don't mind, some people seem to find this annoying. I don't really care though, cause its just what I do. But in case you're one of the lucky ones that doesn't get a call back, don't take it personally. Its just what I do.

2. I procrastinate far too often. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Whenever I try to take care of something ahead of time, like say, write a paper, I can never get it done. Its like I can't think of something to write about until I'm pushed up against the deadline. So far I've done very well with it, but I can't help but think one day it'll come back to bite me in the ass.

3. I lie a lot, especially to people I don't know that well. I go through a lot of phases where I just tell people what I think they want to hear, and then theres times where I'm more honest than I should be. I don't know what triggers my respective phases, but it has gotten me into trouble from time to time.

4. I get attached to people to easily. I find myself falling for people without any particular reason other than they showed the slightest amount of interest in me. It leads to lots of bad times in my life. I think it has a lot to do with my extreme lack of experience in the relationship category. On that note...

5. Where it takes me no time at all to get attached to someone, it takes me 1000 times longer to get over someone. I'll sit and dwell on every little thing for days, weeks, months on end. It sucks. I'm open for suggestions on these previous 2 points on how I can get better in this dept.

6. I crack my knuckles a lot. Its not really that bad of a habit, but I'm running out of ideas. Its not just my knuckles either; toes, knees, shoulders, wrists, neck. If theres a joint, I crack it.

7. I find myself not trusting people a lot. Even if I have absolutely no reason to believe that someone is lying to me, I still have an underlying belief that people are trying to mess with me or lead me astray. Oddly enough, the closer I am to someone, the more I tend to have this feeling. Once again, I'm not sure why. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Now on to the 7 songs...
1. Hinder-Lips of an Angel. I really dig this song. Whenever it comes on the radio or my iPod I can't help but rock out.

2. Chris Daughtry-Used To. This is a new one on my favorites list. It really speaks to me, I think because a lot of the time I wish things could be like they used to be, and the lyrics feel really close to home.

3. J.A.R.-Green Day. This has been one of my favorite songs for a long time. It just kinda reminds you that your time on this earth is short, so don't take it for granted. Make the most of what you've got.

4. Carry On My Wayward Son-Kansas. Another new one to my favorite list. I actually just really like playin it on Guitar Hero, its got good vocals and excellent musical accompaniment.

5. Vindicated-Dashboard Confessional. This one isn't so much one of my favorites as the favorite of someone that was pretty close to me at one time of my life. Shes not around anymore and we weren't on all that great of terms when she was taken from this Earth, but everyday I wake up and see a piece of her and I can't help but be reminded of her. So this song kinda reminds me of her.

6. Blind Man-Aerosmith. Just a good song, excellent message.

7. It Ends Tonight-All American Rejects. I dig this one

Ok so thats my tagging. On to something else.

I stopped by IKEA the other day to buy some pillows. Upon checking our I saw a sign that says they're charging people 5 cents per plastic bag if customers want to use them. Apparently they're trying to help the environment. I get that, but I think they could do something better than charge people money to use plastic bags. People complain enough about the apparent "lack of service" they get at the big blue box. I can only imagine how it must be to work there now and hear the people complain about how they not only have to bag their own shit, but now also must pay money to do so. It seems awfully fuckin ridiculous to me, and I'm sure my former IKEA coworkers would agree with me. Perhaps if they're lookin to do somethin with the plastic bags, offer an incentive to bring the bags back and use them or return them, rather than charge people more money to carry their shit to the car.

Ok, so its like 12:30 at night and I'm tired so I'm gonna stop now, but I'm gonna try and write some more this week. I figure I've already written more in the last 2 weeks than I wrote in the last 3 months, so its an improvement. Sorry to all the 3 people that read this blog and have not been being entertained, someone informed me that I don't write enough. I'll be trying to change that soon. So until next time....

Prelude

Click to Play

yeah so i made this music video for my video production class. the pixel quality is kinda crappy cause i didn't have enough time to condense it properly, but i think its pretty decent.

Wow, It's Been A Month...

Since my last post. I keep saying I should get on there and write some stuff, but laziness and procrastination keep getting the best of me. So now while I wait to go to the grocery store I'll take advantage. So whats been going on with me? Lots.

First off, I got a new job, I'm workin at the library out here. Yeah I know it sounds lame, but it could quite possibly be the easiest thing you could ever get paid to do. So thats pretty cool, a little extra income for my frivalous expendatures is always nice.

I just got back from a week in Oklahoma, visiting my friend Lewis. I was pleasantly surprised at how not hick-like it was, not to mention the low price of homes. I'm seriously considering moving out there once I'm done with my degree. I stopped by the Oklahoma City bombing memorial. I was only 13 when it happened, so I don't remember to many details, just that it was bombed. This was an extremely moving memorial, I took a lot of pictures, some are on my myspace (myspace.com/hans-short-for-hansome) and some I'll put on here starting with my next post. I actually wrote a big long thing about it but then blogger retarded itself and it got deleted. So now rather than write it all again, I'll just say it was a very touching memorial to those that were killed in the tragedy. When I post the pictures I'll write more explaining them.

I'm actually writing this at school now. I started this post like a week and a half ago. But yeah speaking of school, I'm finally going to be graduating. They posted the class schedules for summer and fall quarters and the last 6 classes that I need are being offered, so as of December I'll be an official college graduate. Go me. So since the time I started writing this post and now I've decided to start substitute teaching. I signed up to take the CBEST in June so that I'll be able to start when the new school year starts in August, so I'll be quitting my job at the library around then, if not sooner. The only downside to all this is that I might end up missin my yearly trip to Lake Tahoe. But if it takes not gettin to jet ski for a year to be able to finally finish this damn degree than so be it. Classes this quarter are pretty kick back. I've got one class that teaches me how to use iDVD, photoshop, and final cut pro.....basically a bunch of programs I learned to use in all the classes I took before this one. So its pretty redundant but I figure its an easy A. My other class is technical writing, which I figure anyone thats worth their salt in college can write a paper anyway, so once again we see the redundancy in my classes. Once again, easy A. They're required though so what can I do? Oh well. I actually want to write more but its time to head off to class. Hopefully it won't be another month between posts. I think thats what I said after the last one though....oh well. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the music video I made, either below this post or on my myspace. All this work with video is making me rethink the direction I might want to take in life. That'll probably be the subject of my next post. Thats a good tease...until next time

My Triumphant Return to Blogs

Yeah, I'm not dead. I might as well be though, this is the first bit of free time I've had in weeks. The end of the quarter is fast approaching and with that comes lots of work. I just finished 2 tests, an 8 page paper, a group project, and a newswriting assignment. Lots of fun, but I guess thats what happens when you're takin 25 units. Ok, so on to the good stuff. I've got a little of me talk, and a little of what the hell is wrong with this world talk. So first the me stuff.

As of this morning I'm weighing in at a slim 179.4 pounds, and thats on the scale that tells the truth. If I was on the lying scale I'm almost under 170. But oh well, I'm a pretty happy camper. I've been goin to the gym 3 times a week all of February as well as playin volleyball 2 days a week, so I've been pretty active and I'm starting to see results. My face is a lot thinner, my arms are starting to get more defined, and my love handles are just about gone. Not to mention that my gut is starting to slowly melt away, but for some reason thats always the last to go. No matter, I am extremely pleased with my results thus far. This brings my total weight loss since the beginning of the year to 26 lbs. So hooray for me!

I went to Vegas again this last weekend for a triple birthday with some of my friends, it was considerably more fun than the last trip, and I believe its because I left any excess baggage at home. I had a diet free weekend, which makes the results I'm having that much better. Needless to say I ate a LOT, and it was all fantastic. The highlight was at Rainforest Cafe in the MGM Grand, I had a shrimp platter that came with scampi, these awesome coconut shrimp skewers with a killer mango sauce, and the piece de resistance was these shrimp that were stuffed with a 4 cheese blend, crab meat, and then wrapped in bacon. It was arguably one of the best meals I've had in my life, definitely in the top 10. Thats pretty good comin from a one time fat ass like myself. Gambling wise I came out up, everything else wise not so much. I won $150 in the first 10 minutes on a slot machine and that pretty much funded my gambling for the rest of the weekend. Unfortunately when you factor in the cost of everything else I came out down about $300. But its cool, we had a lot of fun, plus we rented this bad ass 07 expedition so we could all fit in one car. It defintely changed my outlook on SUV's, cause this thing drove like a dream, and it had all sorts of nifty features. If you don't mind payin $70 for a tank of gas then this is the car for you.

I got my tax return money back, and boy does havin a kid pay off. Needless to say I had enough to pay a couple grand in credit cards and other bills, treat myself to an XBox 360 and an IPOD Nano (cause I can't stand the music they play at the gym and I finally gave in to peer pressure. Come on, everyone has one these days!), and fund my vegas trip with plenty to spare. So good times.

Ok, on to other stuff.... I was getting my fix of American Idol the other night when this new show came on afterwards entitled "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" At first I thought to myself, what moron wouldn't win a million dollars on this game? Then they start asking questions. It came to my attention that the education system is not failing us as so many people think, its just that they don't teach you anything in your first 9 years of school that is practical in the real world. Aside from reading, writing, and basic math I can't think of anything else worth knowing. Who is the first president that was impeached? Who needs to know this? The first contestant alledgedly graduated with a history degree from UCLA with a 3.0 GPA. He didn't know this answer. He didn't know the answer to the other 2 questions he was asked either. The next contestant did a bit better, but still, had trouble with some questions. I'd like to say I got all the answers right, but alas there were some I didn't know, and I like to consider myself a pretty smart guy. So yeah, if America wants to complain so much about the state of our education system, maybe they should start teaching us something more practical.

My next bit of "what the fuck is wrong with people" has to do with a woman that was on the Adam Carolla radio show named Shirley Phelps. This woman goes to funerals of dead soldiers and protests with signs that says God Hates Fags, and a bunch of anti military, anti war type stuff. Now I'm not for the war at all, but to show up at a dead soldiers funeral and openly mock what he just gave his life for in front of his family is about as low on the shithead meter as you can go. What kind of heartless person does things like this? A grieving family is a mere 20 or 30 yards away, if that, and you're making a mockery of it. She then goes on to rant about how the bible says lay not with man as you do woman or something like that, so Danny Bonoducci asks about the part where it says God loves all his creatures, and she starts argueing about where in the bible it says that, or where it says other things he brings up to counter her biblical "knowledge". So yeah, Danny Bonoducci may not be the smartest guy out there, but how many people can bring up a bible verse off the top of their heads? The point is this lady is an idiot and I really hope if there is a hell that she burns there for a long time for what she is doing. It just sickens me when people go out and act like idiots and then say its in the name of the lord and expect it all to be ok. First off, How long were all these Jesus stories floatin around before someone finally decided to write them down? 300 years? 500 years? 1000 years? We all know how the game of telephone works. Plus who's to say these were even accurate stories at the original storytellying hour anyway? We don't. These bible nuts that quote it day in and day out and take everything so fucking literally disgust me, and these people like Shirley Phelps deserve to be drug into the street and shot.

Some Good News....And Some Not So Good News....

Ok, so we'll start off with the good news. Last weekend I moved myself into a real room! Thats right, no more sleepin in the living room with boxes for walls and picture frame doors. We cleaned out my mom's rarely used sewing room and moved my stuff in there. Its quite nice, kinda far from the rest of the family so I get privacy. Also a door, actually 3 cause it connects to the garage and outside. But still, woo hoo! I just got done hookin up my tv out there, and tomorrow I'm goin down to IKEA to get myself a wardrobe, as well as pick up my couch from my friends garage where its been sitting unopened for 2 years. So hooray, I finally have a place in the house.

On to the bad news, turns out my scale had been off by several pounds. So while I woke up this morning thinking I was finally going to drop below 180, I come to find I'm barely breaking 190. This is disappointing on 2 levels. While I've still lost 15 lbs, it means I started off above my 200 lbs thresh hold that I thought I had caught myself before surpassing. Its also disappointing cause I'm still a heftier-than-I'd-like-to-be fellow. But oh well, 15 lbs is 15 lbs. Just means I have more weight to lose before I reach my goal.

So like I said in my last post, I started going to the gym this week and while I'm still sore as all hell from my first work out on tuesday, its been getting better day by day, and I do notice a difference after only a few days of exercise, so thats cool.

Alright I guess thats it for today, even though it was a me me me post. One day I'll have something more substantial to write about. Until next time...

well its been awhile since i posted something, so i figured i've got time, why not tonight. i had my birthday on sunday, i'm 25 now. woo hoo. i was in vegas, it was fun except for the whole losing money part. damn it all if alcohol didn't find a way to put a damper on my usually chipper attitude though. its funny how certain things (like alcohol) make you reevaluate things that you thought you were past. i don't want to air someone elses laundry on here, even though its tough cause it kind of intertwines with mine as well, so i guess i'll just leave it at that to spare other peoples feelings. i'll just say i can respect when someone wants to better themselves, just don't do things that make me think otherwise... yeah thats all i'm gonna say about that. grrrr.

on a more positive note, operation get chris back into shape is going pretty well. I'm down to 181, a 14 lb drop from the beginning of the year. so now i'm gonna start integrating a workout routine into my weekly schedule. once intersession is over tomorrow i'll have more time between classes to go and put that dusty old gym membership to use. the goal is to continue eating less like i have been, but then start burnin some calories and buildin some muscle at the same time, so hopefully the fat should melt off like cheap movie theater butter.

ok i guess thats it, i know it was kinda short but with all the school i've been goin to its been a relatively uneventful month. next week though i start taking a video production class, so this might be my forum for my ameture film adventures, or at least something better than reading about me whining all the time. ok kids, until next time....

Where Do You Think You Will Be In Five Years?

As you may or may not know my birthday is comin up this Sunday. I'm gonna be 25, a quarter of a century spent on this earth. As I drove to school today where I am currently typing this a comedian named Mitch Hedberg popped into my head. One of his bits was about a job interview, and the interviewer asked him "What do you see yourself doing 5 years from now?" He responds with "Celebrating the 5 year anniversary, of you asking me this question."

Thinking about this I realized that just a few months ago (Oct 6th to be exact) it would have been my 5 year anniversary at IKEA had I stuck around for another 10 months. I remember my interview there and they asked me that exact question. I believe my answer was that I would be in 1 of 2 possible scenarios: 1) some sort of management level within the company had I not yet attained my degree or 2) teaching, coaching, being a family man. Call it a quarter life crisis I guess, but its dawned on me that I haven't really done much with myself since that question was asked of me. Granted I didn't get dealt the best hand in life since I graduated high school with high aspirations of things to come. Having a kid at 19, having the mother die when he's barely 3 and being forced into the single father statistic, being forced to move back in with my parents after 5 years of being on my own. All of these things have severely stunted my personal and professional growth. Don't get me wrong, I love my son and wouldn't trade him for anything in the world, but there are times in my life when I can't help but think about how my life would be had he never come along. From speaking with friends that are in semi-similair situations I've found this isn't that uncommon, which i guess is a good thing for me cause it shows I'm not as messed up as I sometimes think I am.

When I look back at my answer to the question I'm happy that the first scenario didn't unfold that way, cause after being at the company for 4+ years I've seen several of my one time coworkers get promoted to the managerial plateu and almost every one of them has changed for the worst, fitting the mold that is the IKEA manager. I wouldn't want to be like those people, from my experience the large majority of them are not decent human beings. I believe the only reason I really said that at the time was to look like I was going to be there for awhile and they should let me collect their carts for them, wherein reality I figured I would be done with school by then. 6 years and 6 schools later I'm almost there.

I guess the point of this rant is I haven't accomplished nearly as much by the age of 25 as I thought I would have coming out of high school. An ideal world would have had me graduate college 3 years ago, been teaching for 2 and in some sort of a progressing relationship. As we can all plainly see this ideal has not come close to being a reality. When I whine about this to people they tell me to buck up, I'm doing well for what I've had to go through. On one level I understand that, but on another level I know I'm better than that and that I should have been able to rise above the adversity that's been thrust my way to attain my goals. The fact that I haven't done that worries me, maybe I'm not as strong and determined as I once thought I was.

I am, however, a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. What I've missed out on in terms of my youth, career, and love life I've gained in "valuable" life experience. They say whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so I guess the fact that I'm putting everything else on the back burner to concentrate on finishing school as quickly as possible is a result of everything thats happened. I don't want to live in my parents living room anymore. I want to have my own place again. I want to have a stable career, a happy home. Once I prove to myself that I can make it and provide for myself and my son I believe that everything else should fall into place. So hopefully instead of having a quarter life crisis I'm having a quarter life awakening. This has all been building on something, and I'm eager to see what it is.

On a lighter note, I'm celebrating the big 2-5 by going to Vegas! so woo hoo to me, I'm gonna try to have a blast. I think I will.

My Weekend With The Asians..

These are my asian friends Patty and Jason (except for that little person in the middle, I don't know who she is).

They design and make all the shirts at www.fatrabbitfarm.com. I help them sell their shirts at expos and conventions and what not. This weekend we were in Sacramento at the SacAnime convention sellin tshirts. It was a good time. We got to experience our first road trip, and take a visit to Northern California to see how they would react to the product. If you haven't been to an anime expo before, don't. unless you like anime, in that case i guess it might be your thing. Myself not being a fan I find it funny but annoying at the same time with all these kids running around in their costumes buying up swords and yugi-oh cards. Its REALLY annoying to listen to the kids rattle on about the different cartoons about who is better than who. At the same time I can't help but realize if I were at a ComiCon I would probably be one of those people. But from my experience the comic book fans are far more tamed than their japanese counterparts. I did however, walk out with one of these guys.

The best part about him is that he was free, cause I stole him. I figure if you can charge $1.00 for a 25 cent can of sams club soda, then I'm entitled to take a goomba.

Over all though I was not to impressed with our state capital. You can't turn left anywhere, there are dividers down the center of every god damned road, and the street setups don't make any sense at all. Whoever designed this city must have been high, cause streets stop and become something else then 2 miles later become the other street again even though it doesn't twist or turn or anything. Perfectly good intersections are left clear cause you can't turn left so you have to drive 4 miles out of the way to drive around a friggin corner. Grrrr. One thing they do have on us So Calers though, is this:

Its an IPOD vending machine. Thats right, a vending machine that sells IPods. I was astounded at this feat of technology. I was disapointed that it didn't dispense quite the same way as your average candy dispensing vending station, it hindered me from reaching up and pillaging the bottom row. Still though, I was pleasantly surprised at this particular device.

Something else Sacramento has is this guy.

I call him Metalsauras Rex. It was a dinosaur made out of what looks to be scrap metal, placed out in front of a gas station. It was interesting. They also have real life cigar holding indian statues, as shown below.

I thought these had disappeared since the early 2oth century, but no, they've still got him goin strong. He was in front of the same gas station as Rexy up there, and also a statue of a buffalo that I was unable to snap a picture of. But he wasn't as cool as these other 2 so it makes it ok. Good to see weird ass shit still has a place in todays gas stations.

When I got home I met this guy, his name is Nero.

He's a Boston terrier. He's ugly with a lazy eye, but the fam seems to like him, so I guess thats what matters.

In some other news, I saw The Prestige this past week. A few months back I wrote a post about how I thought I was going to see the prestige but I actually ended up seeing the Illusionist. The Prestige kicks the shit out of the Illusionist, much as you would expect if Wolverine and Batman were to team up against Fight Club and 7th Heaven. And when you have Wolverine and Batman duking it out in an epic magical battle, it makes it that much better. I don't want to reveal to much of the story cause its really REALLY good the way it all plays out and I highly recommend it. I saw it at the dollar theater but I believe it should be coming out on DVD pretty soon, so that should be a must buy on whatever Tuesday it comes out.

Also my cheesy new years resolution is to lose weight and get in shape. My starting weight was 195 with a final goal weight of 160, so I've got a ways to go. So far 2 weeks in I've lost 10 lbs, so hoorah for me. The biggest thing is I'm trying to lose the weight without really doing much physical activity, just changing my eating habits. So far, so good. Ideally it would all be lost by the time I go to Vegas in 2 weeks, but I don't see that happening, but I am off to a good start, so hopefully all will go well.

Alright, its late and I need to wake up early for school. Hopefully I'll be able to write more frequently, but I guess that all depends on how much interesting information I have to write about. Ok kids, have a good one.

Well here it is, 2007. So cliche'd, I know, but where the hell did the time go? I always thought my parents were just bein dumb old people when I was a kid and they would say "well it seems like yesterday you were just this big" and then they would put their hand about 2 feet from the ground. But damn, I'm gonna be 25 in a mere 24 days and I don't know what the hell has happened to all the time. It seemed like high school took forever to get through, and now I've already been out for 7 years. Jesus. Oh well.

I started classes again this Tuesday. They seem to be alright, the only one that may be a pain in the ass is my social psych class, cause the final is writing this 20 page grant proposal, which I guess would be useful if I were actually a psychology major. But I'm not. Its a class to fill a stupid theme requirement. The class itself seems interesting though, so we'll see how it turns out. One class that I looks like it will be useful is this computer class I'm taking, it teaches you how to use a bunch of graphic design programs. Prior to this I didn't have any interest in graphic design, but I've been playin around with the programs and it is kind of fun. We'll see what happens though. The only downside is that is an intersession class so its only 5 weeks long, which means i'm there everyday for 4 hours plus a bunch of lab time, so needless to say all these breaks I thought I had in my schedule are being occupied by sitting in a computer lab for 3 hours a day on top of my regular class schedule. Such is the life of someone trying to squeeze his final 2 years of education into 1.

I watched Borat the other day, by far one of the funnier movies I've seen this year. The year is only 5 days old, but still its pretty funny. What I found even funnier though was after the lights were turned on I hear someone behind me muttering to themselves "oh that was horrible...just horrible. i hated that. that was a horrible movie." I turn to see who is so disgusted with this film I had just spent the last hour and a half laughing my ass off at to see an older couple, I'd say in their late 70's, early 80's. As one helped the other into her wheel chair, I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that these people came to the film. Had they not seen any previews for it? Any of the press about the film? It seemed that they walked up to the marqui and eeny meenie miney moed the movie they wanted to watch, and Borat was what they ended up with. What boggles me even more is if it was so offensive to them, why'd they stick around til the end? You would think a 300 lbs man tea bagging another man would have driven them out, but no, not them. They stuck through it til the end. Hats off to them, I know my parents would have walked out long before the tea-bagging incident, and they are only in their 50's/60's. Oh well, maybe its cause we saw it at a dollar theater, they didn't wanna make a stink about getting their dollar back.

Well since I have to wake up at 7, I guess I should hit the perverbial hay. I get to spend another glorious weekend in Solvang visiting my dad's family. Hoorah. At least I get Danish pancakes. yummy. :)

So here it is, another christmas, another year almost gone. for the first time in a long time i went to church today for a xmas eve service. it was the first time i had attended church since i graduated high school, so like 6 years or so. mind you i didn't even really want to go today, but i was dragged along by my parents who thought it would be good to expose christianity to the little guy. i've got no problem with that, however he is only 5 and its hard enough to get him to sit still as it is, let alone try to teach him about what many believe is the creator of the universe. don't get me wrong, i believe in a higher power. i went to church and was an active member up until i was about 18, then once i moved away from home i gradually fell away from it. not to say i lost my faith, i just developed a different understanding for what it means to be a good christian. i believe dogma said it best, when they said it doesn't matter how you believe, just that you believe in something. who do you see as the better christian: the guy that sits at home, goes to work, does his thing and quietly believes in some form of higher being, or the guy that gets dragged to church each and every sunday by his wife, sleeps through it wishing he could be at home watching football and never really listens to anything the pastor says nor really cares what they have to say? i figure as long as i believe it doesn't matter where i do my believin, and i don't really care much for singin songs written however many years ago that haven't changed at all since i started singin em when i was a kid. so yeah, when my dad tells me he wants to get my kid into church, i was pretty much indifferent about it. granted it is my child, and since its just me and him with his mom no longer with us, its good to have other people willing to pitch in with stuff like this. i always just kinda figured when he was old enough to understand everything i would give him the rundown on faith and let him make his own decisions about what he chooses to believe. i think this approach works much better than force feeding the parents believes down the kids throats, as most times they want to do whatever the opposite is anyways. so yeah thats my take on spirituality. now off to bed for a good few hours of sleep before i'm awaken by said little one to open his presents then take a good nap around noon. merry christmas all, and happy holidays!

Alrighty, it has been a good while since my last post. i've been meaning to get on here the last couple of days but since the little guy is with his other grandparents this week i've been enjoying the single life a little to much, and this is the first night i haven't come home drunk and passed out as soon as i stepped through the door. so we're gonna start back on thursday when i first meant to post something.

we won our game that day. yeah it was cool, we battled back numerous times to emerge the victors. hoorah for us.

friday i went down to the valley to drop off the little one, then decided i'd go see my chums at IKEA that I hadn't seen in o so long. So I get to see all my friends that are still there, have a nice chat. very pleasant. One thing I would like to note about this particular stop on my journey, while I was there I did happen to run into Justin, which I knew was a possibility. I knew of him before when i worked at IKEA but we had never actually "met". after i quit my pal Inez was like hey read this dudes blog its pretty entertaining. so i did, and it is, and comments have been left back and forth between the two of us on our various posts. but i was there, he walked right up and shook my hand and we had a nice little conversation. way to be the initiator justin, i'm a shy fellow. after ikea i went and had some drinks and a movie with the previously mentioned inez and had a good time.

saturday i sat around. i know, very exciting.

sunday i went and saw eragon. eh. i guess for being written by a 15 year old kid it wasn't that bad, but it did look like it had been written by a 15 year old kid. the fight at the end with the dragons was kinda cool, but the rest of the movie had a cheesy kinda lord of the rings sentiment to it, and i'm not a big lord of the rings fan, so i didn't really care for all that crap. i just wanted to see some dragons kick each others asses. oh yeah, also the panthers lost, that sucks. we're 6-8, the only chance we have of making the playoffs is if we win our last 2 games and pretty much everyone else in the nfc loses their last 2. needless to say its not lookin to good. but oh well

monday i went and hung out with my ikea buddies mike and brett. i hadn't hung out with these guys since march, and it was fun. drinkin, poker, movies, a little pukin, a little nap here and there. good times.

i had another game tonight, we lost which was bullshit cause the umpire that we usually have wasn't there, and this new dude blew calls left and right that ended up costing us the game. but oh well, we still had fun and celebrated afterwards. i did however sustain from drinking, cause i know i'm gonna be doin it tomorrow as well, and i fear if i drink like 4 or 5 days straight i'll just be pushing myself closer and closer to alcoholism. and thats no fun for anyone.

ok, its 4 am, i'm tired. i know there was something actually interesting that i wanted to post other than a rundown of these past couple days, but i think i'll get into that a little later. good night all.

Ok, so I finally had something worthy of writing about. This person I know has decided that they want to be vegan cause they don't like the way the animals are killed when it comes time to meat makin. This is fine, I don't have a problem with these type of decisions. What I do have a problem with is when you're gonna sit here and show me all these anti-meat videos, animal rights videos, and all this political bs saying i'm an asshole cause i like hamburgers, but when I try and show them the flipside, and all the negative stuff that groups such as PETA and ALF participate in, you take off and don't want to see it. If you're gonna be part of this vegan crap and subject other people to it and try to prove a point, you have to be willing to see both sides of the argument.

http://view.break.com/189837

This video shows all the crap that PETA has done or has been done in the name of PETA. if you don't want to eat hamburgers thats fine, but if you're gonna force your shit on me, you need to be willing to see my side. Went to Target to pick up Beerfest, saw it was 20 bucks and I said, no sir to much. So I go to best buy to see how much it is there. Only 18, thats better. As I'm checking out, I see a gentleman purchasing the fabled Playstation 3. I'm shocked and amazed, and ask the cashier if they have any more. He informs me that they just recieved 40+ this morning. Jackpot! I strut my way to the back, and my brother and I each picked up a 60 GB PS3, so now I too can take advantage of these foolish kids overpaying out the ass for these video games. We went and ate, then tried to go back in disguise and get some more, but they saw through it and said ney, 1 per customer. Oh well, at least we each got 1. They're still goin for around 1000 on ebay, so I figure to make a couple hundred bucks profit. Hooray for me. Anyone want it? Its on ebay ready to be purchased, looking for a happy home.

On the way home a couple cops go flying by with their sirens. We see them drive up about a quarter mile then flip a U turn to a SUV parked on the side of the road. As we drive by we see the remnants of a real life shootout! The drivers side window had been busted, there was one person I could see in the passanger seat, with about 6 cops surrounding the car with their guns drawn, yelling at the guy to get out of the car, then 2 other cops with who I would assume is the driver bent over the hood of a cop car in cuffs. It was all very exciting. Good times in the desert.

A post from a couple weeks ago detailed a certain individual claiming she beat me at poker, even though I had told her I would let her win if it got down to just me and her. We had our rematch last night, and I won in dominant fashion, shutting her mouth for good and proving myself the victor. It was very satisfying. Hoorah.

Panthers lost last night, we fell to 6-6. I believe we got jobbed on what ended up being the last play of the game, there was clearly pass interference and it wasn't called which resulted in an interception. I was really pissed about it yesterday but I've coped with it, and now that I've had a good day am not as upset about it. What I am upset about is how all my shows are taking a 2 month hiatus from new shows, so I gotta wait til jan 22 before I can see any more Heroes, which is complete and utter bull shit. Very upsetting. I'm gonna have to live off my DVD's and video games til my birthday, which is crappy. But oh well.

We have a game tonight, hopefully it won't be freezing and we'll win. I do know there is going to be an epic Mario Party battle afterwards, which always makes for good times.

Alrighty, I think thats good for today, big post. Toodles all.

ok i remember what i was gonna write the other day and i guess looking back it wasn't as good as i thought it was gonna be. i was just excited cause scrubs was comin back on the air, its on thursdays, and they also moved 30 rock to thursday also. so my already busiest night of the week in terms of tv viewing has gotten even bigger. i know, not so exciting, but when you're unemployed and out of school you don't always live the most exciting life.

We got a new dog today, hes a manchester terrier. hes a tiny little thing, though slightly larger than our last dog. we haven't got a name for him yet. my mom likes jasper, but the rest of us aren't so hot on that. I like Han, or Megatron. no one seems to be so hot on those either. he seems cool though, he gets along with Cody and the cat. once he stops hiding i'll get some pics up either here or on myspace, or both.

took the kid to see flushed away today, it was quite entertaining. the story goes a rich pet rat gets flushed down the toilet and has to learn to adapt to life of not-so-luxury, befriends scrappy female rat, she offers to help him get home, all sorts of antics and hilarities ensue. i like how a lot of kids movies these days put jokes in that the kids won't get but they're hilarious to the parents. this had a great one, and i'm not giving away any plot for those that were gonna see it so its ok. there is a team of french frogs that are hired to track down the 2 main characters, and their leader is le frog. the frogs find em, le frog says, ready for action, then all his minions throw their arms up and say we surrender! get it?! cause they're french! hahahahahaha. i thought it was funny, i probably didn't deliver it correctly in writing, but its writing. i laughed, cody didn't get it and the whole ride home was why did i laugh at that part, so i had to try to explain how the french always surrender and why the joke is funny. eventually i just told him he'll figure it out when hes older. silly kids. overall not bad for a kids movie though, i'll give it 3 1/2 strudels.

alrighty, well, its late, i'm tired, and i've got a full boat of football to wake up for in the morning. panthers don't play til monday but i'm a fan of the game and i must watch whatever crappy matchup is gonna be thrown on tv. so off i go.

Alrighty, been a couple days.....finals are over. Thats good, now I can focus more on sitting around doing nothing. I had my last one Wednesday. They give us 2 1/2 hours, but after a good night of drinkin the night before, I wasn't really feelin the whole sit around and write thing. I figured since the final was only worth 10% of the grade, I only needed to do half to get a solid A in the class. So thats what I did. Gotta love education. So now all my real classes are done. I've got a week left of volleyball, then a good month off.

For those that may not know this about me, I tend to go a little DVD crazy. So Tuesdays are big days for me. This one was no different; Clerks 2, Superman Returns, and Dane Cook: Vicious Circle. I also wanted to get Evening With Kevin Smith 2:Evening Harder, but no body has it out here in the desert. That was disappointing. One funny note, while I was scouring the DVD section, I noticed that now since Superman Returns came out, they also re-released all the original Superman movies, even 3 and 4 which no one really liked at all. But they managed to fill up at least 2 discs worth of extra stuff for them all, with 1 and 2 runnin at 4 discs. Its very interesting, considering when these movies came out in the late 70's/early 80's they didn't do any of these extra craps they throw on DVDs these days. I'm curious to see what they came up with to put on there, but not curious enough to spend $16 a pop to get movies I've already got. I figure if anything I'll throw em on the ol Xmas list and see what happens.

Ok so I thought I had more to write about but now I can't friggin remember what it was gonna be.... i need to start keeping a pre blog journal of shit to write cause i know it was good but now i can't remember. damnit. oh well, i guess thats it for now. perhaps something will jog my memory and i can come and add later. alrighty....toodles.....for now.

Good day today. Before I get into that though I forgot the one thing I was thinking about for the majority of Thursday. As you may or may not know I went to Sea World that day. As you may or may not know I used to really want to be a marine biologist. After I graduated though I got into coaching and that was my new love. Damned if now I don't want to rethink my career again. I remember feeling this same way 5 years ago the last time I came to this park. Those dolphins and whales are such magestic creatures and it is truely breathtaking to watch them move through the water the way they do. I really would love to work with them. I guess my current situation though doesn't really lend to being a legit scientist. Oh well, they're still fun to watch. So yeah, today I got home from San Diego. Yesterday I stopped by the IKEA down there cause word has it there was an old high school buddy of mine that I hadn't seen in about 5 years worked there. I had tried to track him down on my last trip down there in January but he was on vacation, so I wasn't sure if he still worked there or not 10 months later. Turned out he did, he's managing the full serve warehouse down there. It was awesome getting to see him again, I got to sit down with him and his lady friend this morning over an IHOP breakfast and catch up on old times. That was pretty much what made this a good day. Other than that nothing else really happened, good or bad. Just a lot of driving. But yeah, great seeing him, hopefully he'll be joining me for my birthday bash in January. Other than that, Panthers are playin the Redskins tomorrow in DC, we should come out with a victory. DeAngelo Williams, I believe, is going to get the start cause DeShaun Foster has (big surprise here) an injury. If you follow football you'll get the sarcasm there. If not, this guy gets hurt like every single year and I really don't know why they signed him to an extension, cause even when he is healthy he's not very productive. For a team that lives on establishing the running game, he is not our ideal back. Finals are on Monday and Tuesday then I get my one month break before my gigantic 2nd and 3rd quarters at CSUB. 10 classes (at least) between those 2 quarters, so I guess I'll be pretty busy. Alrighty kids, I guess thats it for now. Starts out with my Panthers shutting out the high octane Rams offense and winning 15-0 at home. Then Atlanta loses to Baltimore. Then New Orleans loses to Cincinatti. After all is said and done in the NFL world for week 11, the NFC South looks like this:
Carolina Panthers: 6-4
New Orleans Saints: 6-4
Atlanta Falcons: 5-5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2-8
Since we beat New Orleans earlier in the year we own the tiebreaker and first place. I knew it was only a matter of time before we came around and started playin better football, and our defense stepped it up big today, so way to go. Yeah. That's really what was so great about the day. As a professional gentleman of leisure, I end up with a lot of free time on my hands, so football Sundays usually is my most exciting day of the week.

Went out to dinner with the folks today, went to Applebees. It was alright. My mom is leaving tomorrow to go visit my uncle in Arkansas for Thanksgiving, leaving me, brother, son and dad all by our lonesome. Not looking forward to that. I guess we're going to San Diego on Wednesday to spend the holiday on vacation. Not really how I wanted to spend it, I'm way cooler with my mom and can't stand my dad the majority of the time, so this could end up being the worst trip ever. I was lookin forward to goin to visit my uncle with my mom, and also swing by OK City and visit my good buddy who's stationed out there, but alas, school and constant nagging by my father prohibited me from making that trip. So this is where I stand. Whatever, we'll see how it goes. I'm takin the little guy to Sea World when we're down there, that should be fun cause it'll be just me and him. I took him there with his mom when he was 1 but I'm sure he doesn't remember, and now that its just me and him I need to look for more stuff like this to do with him. Being in the desert doesn't lend much as far as cool places to go.

Last day of school is tomorrow, well technically at this hour its today, before finals. Thats awesome cause CSUB only makes you go one day then the rest of the week is off so you can study for finals. Got my papers done, which is a big load off my chest. This next quarter feels like its gonna be even more stuff though. Found out I need to take one more lower division class so I can get my degree, so I'm gonna take an intense course of beginning keyboarding skills over the winter intersession at the JC out here. That's right, 5 intense weeks of learning to play an electronic keyboard. That's gonna be at the same time that I'm takin my 3 winter classes at CSUB, then I'm gonna take 2 other classes at AVC during their spring semester, which will carry between the winter/spring quarters at CSUB. So all in all I'll be taking like 6 classes over the next 6 months. Heavy load, but thats what I gotta do to get this damn schoolin done with. Goal is to be done with degree by Fall 07, then take those last couple quarters to get my credential, and then start teaching in Fall 08. So look out students, I'm on my way to corrupt young minds throughout the desert. Hopefully it won't be the desert though, ideally I'd like to be out in San Diego when all is said and done.

Ok, thats enough for now. I know theres more I wanted to say but its late and I'm tired, so perhaps while I'm sitting in class tomorrow I will put up some more blabber.

Ooo its been a busy last couple of days. First I'd like to start with a bit of a rant. Who the hell pays $5000 for a PS3? Is it really worth that much extra money to have it a month before the neighbor kid? As I'm sure most of you know the PS3 came out on Friday, people were shot over their places in line, held up for their systems after they buy them. I sincerely hope that anyone that actually got one of these systems yesterday is selling them, because thats the only reason i could see someone waiting in front of Best Buy for 5 days to get one. You figure you sell it for like $4000 or so, and yeah thats worth campin out for a couple of days. Otherwise its just insane. This friend of a friend actually ended up with 5 of them, how I don't know. But he figures to come up on some grande bank.

We had a game on Thursday, got wooped. I pitched like shit, our outfielders didn't hit their cutoffs, infielders didn't stop, catch, or throw properly. So yeah we lost like 20-2ish. But new girl did better, she got 2 hits and we threw her at catcher so she couldn't mess up to much on the field. We had another new chick too, so we actually had enough to put a full team on the field. Hoorah. After the game we went for some drinks at my buddies house. It was good time, I cut a perverbial rug, got my drink on and what not.

Yesterday we had our tournament de foster at my friend dannys house. I'm gonna tell a small story leading in. Last time I played poker with this chick Kalani I felt bad cause I took a bunch of her money. So I told her if she made it to the final 2, and I was the other, I would let her win. So she is almost out but she makes this amazing run back, much like I did cause I was almost out too, and it ends up bein me, her and this other guy mando. She busts him, so its just us left. Damnit, now I have to make a decision if I wanna keep my word or just beat her. I took option A, cause I figure its always good to be a man of your word, or something like that. So yeah, I get 10-2, take it to the turn, i have no pair, theres 3 overcards on the board. I tell her I'm going all in, and you should call, signaling she should be able to beat me. So she does, flips her cards, she's got 10-8. 8 comes on the river, she wins. Like I told her I'd let her. But then the rest of the night she's talkin all this nonsense about how she beat me and I didn't let her win. For those that know me and about my competitiveness, this is the biggest sin i could do, intentionally lose at something. But I did, cause I told her I would, but if I'm gonna let you do that, you'd best just take the money and run, cause if you talk smack its just gonna fuel the fire for the next time i play you. so yeah, I'm waiting for a rematch.

Finished my papers today, finally. Only took a little over 8 hours apiece. But thats the last real work I have to do this quarter. Now I just got finals next Monday, and hoorah, month off.

Panthers-Rams tomorrow in Carolina, 10 am. We should win, move to 6-4, and if Atlanta loses to Baltimore like I'm expecting and then New Orleans loses to Cincinatti, like I hope they will, (even though with the way Cincinatti has been so up and down this year I'm not sure. But yeah if that happens and we win, we'll move into a first place tie with the Saints, but technically we won head to head so we would be ahead in the tiebreaker. So everyone wear your panther blue, and boo those falcons and saints!

I guess thats it. Leave some comments or something, from what I hear recently theres more than the 2 people that I thought read this blog out there, so hit me up and let me know, via comment!

Ok so we had another game last night, lost again. This one however, we should have won. We were winning 8-2, other team rallied to go up 9-8, we come up in our half of the last inning, i score the tying run, we have the winning run on 3rd, and this chick strikes out. Now normally I could accept this, except for a couple of things:

1. This girl was new to the team, her first game. She claims she has played softball for 5 years. I say sweet, some experience.

2. As the game progresses, I begin to realize she is full of shit.

3. She is on first base, the batter hits a popup. She takes off to second. The whole bench is yelling at her to go back to first. She does not. She gets all happy when she makes it to second. Second baseman catches the ball, throws to first, double play. She is befuddled. I would think someone who has played for 5 years would know you have to tag up on a fly ball.

4. She claims she can play 3rd base. So we put her at 3rd. The inning that they scored all the runs to come back, 4 balls were hit at her. 2 hard, 2 weak. The hard ones, however, were right at her; one she jumps out of the way, the second goes right through her legs. The 2 weak ones; one goes through her legs, the other hits her in the leg and bounces away. Then she stops and doesn't chase the ball, allowing the runner to go to second.

5. Not only did she strike out that first time, but since we had tied it we play one extra inning. The other team scores 4 runs in their half of the inning, thanks to some bad calls, some cheating by the other team, and some sloppy defense. We come out in the bottom half, put up 2 runs right away, stall a little bit, we're left with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Guess who comes to the plate? All she has to do is put the ball in play, they were playing horrible defense, we coulda kept the rally alive. But no, ball falls a foot in front of the plate both times, she swings and misses both times, strike 3, game over, Team Ramrod loses. Again.

6. After the game, shes complaining that her suede shoes got dirty.

7. I wanted to punch this girl in the face.

Ok yeah thats it, just an extension of my post on being ultra competive. When you lie about your ability to me though, that really sucks. We woulda been better off with the 2 girls we usually play with and leaving her at home. Oh well. We'll try again tomorrow. I still gotta write those papers. Damnit.

Cursed school. So i'm sitting at home, knowing I've got 2 papers due on Monday. Usually I'll do one on Tuesday and one on Thursday, my off days from school. But I just can't seem to bring myself so start it today. I guess I have to be in the mood to bs 8 pages about cartoon violence. Not that I'm ever in the mood for such a task. Perhaps its just that it needs to be closer to crunch time so that I'm more inspired. I think that is most likely the case. So it looks like Thursday and the weekend will be my paper days this time around. Then only 1 class left after this week, finals, then a month off which will be great. The quarter system is awesome cause it goes by hella quick, but they also cram a lot of stuff into those 10 weeks, so I feel I deserve a good break.

Panthers won last night on MNF, 24-10. A pretty shitty first half, but an awesome second half. Steve Smith is 4th in receptions and recieving yards after spotting everyone else 2 games. The man is unstoppable. My fantasy teams did pretty good also, now that Chad Johnson finally had a big game. I swear, one of my teams has Johnson, Smith and Santana Moss as the recievers, the top 3 at their position in fantasy points last year. That team is 5-5 now. Its been generally disappointing, but whatever. my team is winnin again and thats what matters.

Heroes was good again, they keep confusing me though with Claires dad, and that chick that lived by Muhinder. Are they good? Are they bad? Next week should be good, they're supposed to save the cheerleader. I wanna see the pic that Isaac painted, see if it holds anymore answers. And what happened to Hiro? Oh so many questions. Next week I guess.

Ok, so since I'm not writin my paper, I guess its over to Marvel Ultimate Alliance again. Good times.

I have a problem. I can't stop it. I can only hope to contain it. I have a few addictions. One is Target. The 2nd is Target t-shirts. Yesterday I went to said dept store and was overjoyed to find a large selection of their shirts on sale. As I skipped through the aisles throwing shirt after shirt into my cart, I said to myself, self, this is not what a professional gentleman of leisure should be spending his money on. But that didn't stop me. I had walked in for $10 worth of soda. I walked out with $60 worth of t-shirts and a couple packs of soda. Granted I got a lot of shirts for my money. Most of em were only $3, while some were $6. This is how I tell myself that it was ok. But whatever, I had wanted some of these shirts for awhile and this was the oppurtunity I had been waiting for, so I struck. Hoorah.

Good night of shows today. For starters we've got Monday Night Football, with my beloved Panthers takin on the Tampa Bay Bucs at home. Should be a good game, both Atlanta and New Orleans lost yesterday so if we win we'll only be 1 game back in our division. That starts at 5:30, so I figure that should end just in time for tonights episode of HEROES! It's supposed to get excited these next 2 weeks, the event is here. At least thats what they're toting. I don't think they're gonna be disappoint. 2 shows that are on Monday nights that I watch also are 2 1/2 Men and How I Met Your Mother. I never actually watch these on Monday night, tivo lets me watch them at my leisure but they're really funny shows. Charlie Sheen is much better suited for TV than for movies. Thats probably cause the only good movies hes made were the Major League movies.

Ok so yeah thats it. Those papers are looming in the distance for me to write this week. I'll get around to em tomorrow.

Oh gosh what a night. It started out kinda crappy. We played our second game today, got wooped up like 18-7 or something around there. I have this problem where I'm like ultra competitive. Its not that I can't lose either. I don't mind losing, as long as I know that we played our best and they beat us at our best. When we've got people that don't run out a ground ball, don't hustle to make a catch, concede outs, stuff like that, then I get really pissed off. Yeah we probably still woulda lost even if we did these things cause the team was pretty good, but the score woulda been much closer and I would have felt better about our effort. If you know anything about baseball, the 2 guys in charge out on the field are the shortstop amongst the infielders, and the center fielder among the outfielders. When a ball goes between left and center, we shouldn't have the center fielder standing still pointing at the left fielder to get the ball. Damnit. I know I shouldn't be to upset because we've only had one game and one practice before tonight but still, thats just me I guess. Oh well.

Warning: If you watch Smallville or The Office and you didn't see this weeks episodes yet, you might not wanna read what is written in the next 2 paragraphs. or you can and not care. either way.

What a great night of tv. All my shows were on while I was at the game, so I watched em when I got home (god bless tivo). So I watch Smallville, pretty decent, get to the end, what the hell? Lana is gonna have Lex's baby? That simply can not be. And what the hell is with Martha Kent and Lionel Luther almost kissing? She can't like him! Its god-damned ridonculous. But next weeks looks good, I think Clark is finally gonna start fighting some crime and kickin ass. This is good, it only took 5+ seasons to get him to help people other than his friends and family.

The Office is another one of my favorites. Tonight did not disappoint, Jim is finally coming back to Scranton. Its gonna be interesting how they spin it with Jim, Pam and new chick from other branch. I like how Jim still fucks with Dwight even though he's at the other office. I know I'm ruining these shows if you haven't seen em yet, but I'm pretty sure theres only a handful of people that read this (and I'm being generous) and they either don't watch these shows or should've watched em already. But oh well. It's my blog so screw you if I ruined it. I may just go back and put a disclaimer at the top of this anyway, just to avoid hurting someones feelings. I'll see what I think when I get finished.

I've got two 8 page papers to write this next week, as well as a presentation that makes up almost my whole grade in another class. A smarter man would take this weekend to work on the papers, seeing as how Cody is gonna be campin with Grandma, and I'll have some time to do school work without worrying about him needin my attention. But I'm a born procrastinator, and far be it from me to break that trend. So I've got my weekend booked with plans to keep myself busy and not get a chance to do anything resembling schoolwork. Go me. I'm sure I'll find time to do them on my off school days next week. Then there's always next weekend also. Good times.

I just noticed I've capitalized almost everything properly. Thats very rare for me, especially when I'm supposed to be writing a "journal."

Ok thats it, I think I will throw that disclaimer up there.

Played in our first softball game last night. We did much better than I was expecting us to. We won, 13-8. To bad it was a practice game cause we didn't have enough girls to field a full team. It was a lot of fun though, not to many errors and I think everyone got at least one hit, so good times.

Heroes was awesome again. Its shows like this that make me wanna just skip the whole season and buy it on DVD so I don't have to wait a week inbetween each episode. type='text'>

Ok, been awhile since my last post, and I've got a lot of crap to put up here. Some interesting, some probably not so much. Alright, first things first.

The movie I went to see that wasn't the movie I thought I'd see:

So on Friday I went to see a movie after class, and I wanted to see the magic movie with Batman -vs- Wolverine. I'm lookin through the movie times, and all I see is The Illusionist. I knew there was another magic movie called the Prestige, but I couldn't remember which was which. Since there was no Prestige playin anywhere in the desert, I figure it had to be The Illusionist that I was looking for. So we go and sit in the theater, credits start rollin. I see Edward Norton. I see Jessica Biel. I see Paul Giamatti. I turn to my brother and say "I didn't know they were in this movie." Thats when the credits stop and movie starts. No Hugh Jackman. No Christian Bale. No Michael Cain. At first I thought maybe its a trick and they're not putting the other names first for whatever reason. Yeah, that was not the case. So I end up sittin through a 2 hour magic murder/love/mystery story when I just wanted to see Batman and Wolvie duke it out magic style, where I end up seein Smoochy (as in Death to Smoochy, another great movie that no one has really seen with Norton and Robin Williams) and the crippled basketball star from 7th Heaven. The Illusionist was however, a pretty good movie. Luckily it was playin at the $1 theater, or else I may not have sat through it cause I didn't know if I would like it. But yeah it was pretty good. Jessica Biel (hot!) plays this dutchess that is set to marry the prince, but she doesn't really love him, she loves this magician that she was friends with as children, but she had been forbidden to see him because he was a commoner. So the magician takes off, comes back to Vienna 15 years later with all these bad ass magic tricks. They meet again, the sparks flash again and they try to find a way to escape from the prince. I won't give anymore away to the plot of the story cause I think you guys should see it if you haven't already cause its a really good movie. I give it 4 1/2 strudels. I'm a big Edward Norton fan, and he didn't disappoint. Jessican Biel did a good job too, I could have sworn that after she made Stealth and Summer Catch she had just given in and admitted her career was over. Way to bounce back.

Spent another weekend with the kids from Fat Rabbit Farm at the Thai Temple in North Hollywood. It was cool, we did better than we had done the previous week at the PMX. Lots of asian people, again. One really really annoying person yelling "Five dolla, five dolla..." but with that thick asian accent. That got old really fast, I wanted to hit her.

Went to a party on Saturday night at my friends house, had a pretty good time. I shotgunned my first beer that night. Quite the experience, didn't know I could drink that fast. Got to play in a bouncy house, did some dancing, all around good time.

Went to the batting cage yesterday, took some hacks to get ready for our game tomorrow, assuming we can get enough chicks to play a game. I did good, many a solid hit came off my bat. Note for future: don't let 5 year olds in the cage, even when its slow pitch. Swing coordination is key, and apparently Cody didn't have that yet. I let him get in for a few pitches, but he doesn't stay in his stance when he swings, so one of the balls came in and whacked him pretty good on the hand. I guess I learned my lesson.

Ok I guess thats it for today, hopefully I'll post more often so I don't have to put so much crap into one blog. Heroes tonight, make sure to watch. Their secret is out!

Sirens are there for a reason!

Ok I meant to put this post up last week but I had a busy weekend. I was drivin to school on Friday, gettin ready to go through an intersection on a green light. The car in front of me isn't moving, the light has been green for awhile giving him ample time to have moved his ass out of the way. He doesn't move. I don't see all this til I go over the hill with railroad tracks which is about 50 feet before the stoplight. So I try to slam on my brakes, not stopping in time, swerve hella crazy style into the other lane, give the guy the finger as i zoom past, then as i'm in the middle of the intersection i see a fuckin fire truck waiting to go through with his lights on. No damn siren! Had I heard something saying "hey look at me i'm a big ass red truck that needs to go pull a cat out of a tree" I may have been more aware and not have to almost crash into this guy. AAAAAAHHHHHH!! So yeah, if theres any firefighters/police/EMT's out there reading this, if you have an emergency, use your fucking siren. especially if you're attempting to cross an intersection on a red light. Stupid people.

Other than that, lets see. Panthers lost again. Damnit. Now we're 4-4 going into the bye week. I don't get it, we can't play a complete game. 1st quarter we were kicking ass, up 14-0. 4th quarter we were up 14-10. Then all of a sudden we fumble 2 kick returns, a punt return, and give up 25 points in the 4th. Its fuckin ridiculous. And we need to get Deshaun Foster out of the starters role, he's not a premier running back. Once De'Angelo Williams is healthy I really hope he gets some starts, he's going to be a much better player.

Spent the weekend helping out my buddies at this anime expo sellin some t-shirts. There are some weird people at these things. Everyone was dressed up and asian-y looking. It was like a big ass cartoon. I think we did alright though, it was our first expo and the website had only been up for a couple of weeks, so no one really knows who we are. In case you don't, check out www.fatrabbitfarm.com and see if theres anything that strikes your fancy. Also we're gonna be at the Thai Temple in North Hollywood next weekend, Nov 4-5. Its on Coldwater Canyon, just south of Roscoe, so if you're in the area stop by and check it out. You can get some thai meat on a stick. pretty tasty.

Finished my second papers for class, this quarter is almost done, thank goodness. 1 down, 4 to go. I don't think I did a good job on them, so that means I'll probably get an A. Whenever I feel good about a paper it does shitty and whenever I think its kinda half-assed it does well, so these should get like A+'s.

Wow that was a big blog. I guess thats what happens when you go so long between posts. Oh yeah, world series is over. Now offseason signings begin, hopefully the Mariners will get some pitching and a outfielder with some power. No more finishing last in the AL West. Ok so yeah, thats it. Check out the www.fatrabbitfarm.com site, also don't forget to watch Heroes tonight, 9:00 pm on NBC!

Heroes NBC Episode 5 Sneak Peak:

Alright so I'm sittin here in my intercultural communication class, bored as hell. I don't really need this class as far as knowledge cause I've lived in California my whole life, the melting pot of the US. But its credits and it was available to what the hell...

Heroes is quickly becoming my favorite show, trumping Smallville, The Office, and My Name is Earl. Is it because every week is another cliff hanger that leaves me wanting more? Possibly. This is one of the reasons I didn't watch tv for awhile and I would just buy the seasons when they came out on DVD, so I didn't have to wait around for a week each time wondering what was going to happen next. Curses. But it worked, I'm hooked. Whats the deal with Peter Patrelli? Is he like Rogue? He flies, he sees the future, its like he adapts to whatever power the person around him has. And how bad ass was it when Nathan Patrelli is gettin cornered by bad white guy and bad black guy and he just takes off. Check out the video above this post. Best opening thus far.

Yeah we're on a break, we're supposed to be meeting for this group thing afterwards that I'm not really looking forward to cause I greatly dislike group projects. Mostly cause I don't trust other people to get their parts done. Partly cause I'm antisocial and I don't like being thrown into situations like this with people I don't know. But we've only got 2 weeks left to finish and out of an 8 person group, about 3 are contributing useful thoughts. Boo to the other 5 slackers. Alright I guess thats it for now. Jake Delhomme needs to not throw a pick on 3rd and goal with the game tying field goal in hand. yeah panthers lost 17-14 to cincinatti. that pretty much bummed me out for the rest of the day. it was surprisingly productive however. i hung up a cabinet, installed a new doorbell, hung up a dustbuster for mi madre, i even took care of traffic school for that stupid ticket i got on the way to vegas. On that note however, god bless the internet. if you ever get a ticket you can go to traffic school for, do it online. its so much more easier than real traffic school. you don't have to go anywhere, it takes like 30-45 min rather than 8 hours (assuming you don't read shit and just take the quizes till you get to the end). I figure I know the rules of the road and if I choose not to observe them so be it, but don't try to make me sit in some dumb classroom all day for shit i chose to ignore. thats just my take. yeah my arm's been hurtin on and off, i guess thats what happens when it gets stuck repeatedly with a needle for 2 1/2 hours straight. the tat is lookin good though, i've been keepin it lubed up, no cracking, itching or peeling so far, which is more than i can say for my first one. i think the fact i invested way more money and skin for this one has inspired me to take better care of it. now if i could just get myself into the gym to get in shape and make it look that much better. maybe, but school has been stressful lately. too much writing. i just had to do 2 5 page papers 2 weeks ago, now i gotta write 2 more this week. i'm not lookin forward to it, but i just gotta keep my eye on the prize. i figure i can do anything i don't like for a couple months, which is how long the quarters are. hopefully the other classes i need to take don't involve as much writing. i'll probably be wrong. alright with that note, i've got class in the morning, so i guess i should hit the proverbial hay. night all.

Been awhile since my last post so I thought I'd throw somethin up. Watched a couple movies this week, I'll give an improptu review. The first was Man of the Year, the new Robin Williams flick. Wasn't quite what I was expecting. He did a good job but the movie itself lacked the feel of a good Williams picture. The trailers make it up to look pretty funny but its one of those films that shows you all of the funny moments in the commercials. It seemed like it was more serious than funny most of the time. So yeah, wasn't a big fan of this one. Since this is my first review I've gotta think of a rating system. I'm gonna go with strudels. Cause I'm Danish. So out of 5, I give this 1 Strudel. If you guys can think of a better rating system, I'm open to suggestions.

Next film was a new to DVD release, Click, Adam Sandler's latest movie. I may be a bit biased cause I'm a huge Sandler fan, but I thought this was a pretty good movie. Lately it seems like hes been trying to branch out and do something other than comedy, and this was kind of a combo of serious acting and comedy. He pulled it off well. It had its own little classic Sandler-esque moments but it also had a really good message behind it. The basis of the story is this guy is stretched to thin between work and family life, and he gets a universal remote control that controls his universe. He is able to fast forward through the boring parts of his life so he can concentrate on his work. The remote starts taking on a life of its own and before he knows it he's skipped through his entire life. The message says don't take life for granted, enjoy every moment cause it goes by to fast. Its a great story, well done by the writers, directors and actors. 4 Strudels.

Lets see, went to Knotts this week, it was fun. My accomplice was scared going around every corner, and it made for a good laugh. Got my papers back for class, A on both and a 90 on my midterm which was awesome. Smallville is gettin good with the Green Arrow plotline. Heroes was awesome again as usual. I'm tellin you, watch it.

Played poker twice this week, finishing a strong 2nd both times. Unfortunately in our games its all or nothin, so if you don't get 1st you don't leave with any money which was dissapointing. But it was good times. I've gotta make people start pitchin in on beer though, it can get expensive.

I think thats it. I've got an exciting week of writing more papers in front of me. Panthers are on tv tomorrow against the Bengals, should be a good game. Alright all, toodles.

today was good. with the exception of the hangover from my excessive drinking the night before that is. panthers won, 23-21 over the baltimore ravens and their 2nd best defense in the nfl. so that was exciting. went out last night, had a good time. i was supposed to go to knotts for halloween haunt but we found out they were sold out, so it gave me a good excuse to go to sonic burger, as if i ever need one, and i got to introduce another new soul to the greatness that is sonic burger. i should get free food for all the people i've turned on to this place. i'll write a letter. so yeah then we went to downtown disney to commence the drinking. i got to try a red headed slut, which was pretty tasty. i also found out you shouldn't drink the $6 shot at tortilla joe's. its no bueno.

went to the fall festival today, its way bigger than i remember it from when i was a kid, but they still had good carnival type food. funnel cake, caramel apples, dip-n-dots, bad ass tri tip sandwiches. good times had by all. to much walking though. being a professional gentleman of leisure i try to keep all physical activity to a minimum. so yeah, thats about it. good times this weekend. :)

Long day yesterday. 2 midterms, I think thats the most I've handwritten in like 10 years. Boo. Had to call lines at a volleyball game. I got $15 for it, however my knees are killing me from standing up for so long. Cursed genetics. I'm playin in a volleyball tournament this weekend, first time I'll have played really competitively since high school. It should be fun.

I saw the Dane Cook movie yesterday, it was pretty funny. Done by the guys that did Wedding Crashers but Wedding Crashers was way funnier. Not very Dane Cookish. I did see a preview for a new Will Ferrell movie that I may actually want to see, which is odd because I hate Will Ferrell. It's called Stranger than Fiction. Looks good, I think it comes out next month or so.

Last week and a half has been horrible, my dad got in an accident (barely) and he's been at home complaining every minute of the god damn day. anyone that knows my dad knows he's not fun to be in a room alone with, let alone be in a room with anyone else. every day its bitchin about his back, or the insurance company, or the guy that hit him, listening to him calling the insurance company 15 times a day telling the same fucking story overly embellished. type='text'>

school sucks. even when you don't have to go. i keep telling myself to read and study for these midterms i got comin up on wednesday but damnit its too much stuff. hopefully i can bs somethin to pass. i usually do.

has anyone watched heroes? this show is awesome. todays was especially good. i won't ruin it for people that haven't seen it, but then again how many people can i assume are even reading this? well for those that do, if you haven't seen it yet, watch it. nbc.com shows this weeks episode. those that have, its frickin awesome right?!

i hurt my back playing volleyball today. it only further instills the fact that i'm out of shape, but for some reason doesn't inspire me to get back in shape. i know i could, i know somewhere in me is that willpower i need to get my ass back in the gym and lose this gut, build some muscle so i don't throw my back out everytime i jump. i just can't seem to find that willpower again. it probably doesn't help that the majority of the people around me are lazy also. damn lack of ambition. i guess that's kind of a central theme goin on in my life right now.

i think i'm getting the hang of this whole blog thing. looking back over this one it looks good. good account of the day and description of my feelings.

watch walk the line, it was a pretty good movie. not a fan of johnny cash or joaquin phoenix, but he did a good job and it was an interesting story. plus reese witherspoon is pretty hot.
ok so today was a decent day. started off with my panthers woopin on the browns 20-12. if it weren't for a stupid last second field goal we woulda covered the 8.5 point spread. but oh well, wasn't bettin on it, just messed up my picks for the week. got to have some dinner at chili's, always a tasty treat. yeah that was about it. still a bit down about everything but they say time heals all, so i guess we'll see where this leads.

dear lord i skipped a day! the blog gods will be upset at me. i guess its ok cause nothing really happened until about 3 am today. yesterday was a generally depressing day until around 11ish, I got to hang out with some buddies, drink some beer and play some poker. good times. i always seem to feel better when i hang out with them, have some laughs and talk about random shit. we decided to get some late night denny's, which was tasty. partly cause i was drunk, partly cause it ended up being free. myself and 3 individuals who shall remain nameless to protect our anyonymity decided since we hadn't recieved a box for our take homes we weren't entitled to pay for our meal. luckily my car has remote start which aided in our getaway. it had been awhile since i skipped out on a tab, it was quite invigorating. good times. needless to say that did sober me up quite quickly. so yeah, good times, today i get to sit around and read all day. stupid midterms. one day i shall rid us of these cursed tests. alright, we'll see how this day goes.
<img width='1' height='1'
